Prospect Heights Tree Task Force

For anyone inclined, from the local Tree Task Force….

Dear Neighbors,

Most of you are familiar with the Prospect Heights Street Tree Task Force and what we have accomplished during the past five years.  You are also aware of the benefits and beauty of a healthy urban forest, maintained right outside your front door. And, you probably know that the City does not routinely care for our street trees.

When you walk around Prospect Heights please observe that most of our street trees are in good health. They are adequately pruned. Their beds have been enriched with topsoil and humus and are covered with mulch.  This is the result of a lot of hard work on the part of the Task Force and a few block associations and other neighborhood volunteers we have partnered with over the years.

Unfortunately, the Street Tree Task Force cannot continue to provide the same level of tree care to our neighborhood street trees without additional support from our neighbors.    To put it bluntly, we are simply stretched too thin and we need your help.  We really do.

There are many ways you can become involved.  If you are a member of a block or merchant association please encourage one of your members to join the Task Force’s steering committee. If you are not affiliated with an association why not become a steering committee member yourself and help guide our course of action for this year.  By partnering with the Street Tree Task Force, you will ensure that our neighborhood’s trees receive the care and attention they need to survive and even flourish!

You can reach them at the above e-mail address or just telephone Bob Biegen at 718-789-2469 and tell him that you’re interested.

• Laundry Room: In order to prolong the life of all the machines, and to be courteous of your neighbors, please remove your lint when done using the dryer.   Please try to remove left over laundry detergent if it is caked in the center of the washer when your laundry cycle is done. The building is looking into getting a professional lint removal once a year.
