Neighborhood Update – Free Trees and Pit Clean Up

Tree Giveaway

When: Saturday, October 18 at 11 AM

Where: Magnolia Plaza, 686 Lafayette Avenue (Marcy and Tompkins)

Have a place to plant a tree? 100 free trees will be distributed this Saturday to individuals, families and community groups for planting on private property. Trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis or you can pre-register for your tree. Simple tree planting and care instructions provided for the Fig, Paw Paw, Apricot or Peach trees.

Mulch Day on Park Place

When: Saturday, October 18, 10 AM

Where: Park Place between Vanderbilt and Carlton Avenues

Join the Prospect Heights Street Tree Task Force and the Park Place 21 Block Association for a tree care event starting at 10 am this Saturday, October 18. The Parks Department will furnish mulch to spread around tree pits, tools will be provided, and daffodils will be planted on part of Vanderbilt Avenue.

Street Closures 10/11-10/13 + Prospect Heights Immersion 10/11

Street Closures around Barclays Center THIS WEEKEND

When: 9 PM Friday, October 10 to 6 AM Monday, October 13, 2014

In order to facilitate construction at the Barclays Center, two construction cranes will be installed on Atlantic Avenue and Sixth Avenue, requiring the weekend closure of the following roadways:

  • Dean Street, between Flatbush and Sixth Avenues
  • Sixth Avenue, between Dean and Bergen Streets
  • Sixth Avenue, between Atlantic Avenue and Dean Street

The Prospect Heights Immersion: Drink, Shop and Brunch

When: Saturday, October 11, starting at noon
Where: Vanderbilt Avenue

Drink and eat your way through Prospect Heights this Saturday, October 11 at the Prospect Heights Immersion. For a $20 ticket, you’ll get four complimentary beers, one each at Plan B, Woodwork, Dean St. and Berg’n (for a quick excursion over to Crown Heights), plus lunch at either Citrico or Dean Street.

Building Update 10.07.14 – FIOS possibly now available…

This morning a FIOS ran fiber optic cable from their manhole cover on Vanderbilt up to 240 Prospect Place.  The tech team relayed that 240 PP is the new, main connection for it’s block on Vanderbilt, and that FIOS will now be available on Vanderbilt.  If you are interested in a new internet/cable/phone contact Verizon FIOS to see when your service could start.
